General information
AccuWeather's International Air Quality API delivers air quality index values, dominant pollutants, and health-risk guidance for any global location, powered by Plume Labs data.
All requests return an overview of pollution levels — air quality index, dominant pollutant, and a brief statement summarizing risk and recommended precautions. Premium endpoints add per-pollutant concentrations (in µg/m³ or ppm) and individual index values.
→ See the Air Quality Guide and Parameters for endpoint details and request patterns.
Version 2 (current)
V2 covers all AccuWeather locations and includes both current conditions and forecasts:
- Current air quality conditions
- Hourly forecasts (1–96 hours)
- Daily forecasts (1–7 days)
- Observational data for China and South Korea (current + past day)
Air-quality searches require a LocationKey — use the Locations API to look one up.
Pollutant categories
The premium option for current and hourly forecast endpoints breaks down particulate matter into two categories:
- Fine particles (PM2.5) — 2.5 micrometers in diameter and smaller. Found in smoke and haze. Emitted directly from sources like forest fires, or formed when gases from power plants, industry, and automobiles react in the air.
- Inhalable coarse particles (PM10) — larger than 2.5 micrometers and smaller than 10 micrometers in diameter. Common near roadways and dusty industries.
Version 1 (deprecated)
Version 1 endpoints are deprecated. New integrations should use Version 2.
V1 covers Korea and China observational data:
- Korea — over 300 stations, provided by Air Korea
- China — over 1,100 stations, provided by Huafeng
Observations are updated at least once per hour. Specialized content is available through premium endpoints under specific business terms.
Concentrations are measured in µg/m³, except carbon monoxide which is measured in ppm.
