# General information

AccuWeather's Maps APIs deliver **weather map overlay tiles** — past, current, and forecast weather conditions rendered as PNG tiles for layering onto an existing map. Tiles are returned one at a time and pair seamlessly with **Mercator-projection** mapping services like Google Maps, Mapbox, Leaflet, and Bing Maps.

The Maps APIs do **not** provide base map imagery. They return weather overlay tiles that you display on top of a map service of your choice.
